ABSTRACT
From \(Terminalia\) \(bellerica\) Roxb. a new cardiac glycoside has been isolated. On hydrolysis it yields for each mole of aglycone two moles of d-glucose and one mole of d-galactose. The aglycone is shown chemically and spectroscopically of cardenolide type, containing in the steroidal frame a C-CH3 group, three hydroxyl groups, and αβ-unsaturated five-membered lactone and a benzene ring.
