ABSTRACT
Despite protective measures such as personal equipment (PPE) and a COVID airway management program (CAMP), some emergency physicians will inevitably test positive for COVID. We aim to develop model predicting weekly numbers of physician converters aid operations planning. The data were obtained from the electronic medical record (EMR) used throughout national healthcare system. Hamad Medical Corporation's internal medicine workforce source information on conversion completing CAMP training. study period included spring summer months 2020 started March 7 ran 21 whole weeks through July 31. Data extracted system's EMR database into spreadsheet (Excel, Microsoft, Redmond, USA). statistical software all analyses plots was Stata (version 16.1 MP, StataCorp, College Station, All definitions made priori. A total 35 250 (14.0%, 95% CI 9.9%-19.9%) converted real-time reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (PCR) during study's 21-week period. Of these. only two hospitalized having respiratory-only disease, none required respiratory support. Both discharged within week admission. number newly COVID-positive zero seen in eight (38.1%) weeks. peak counts six with new 14. mean 1.7 ± 1.9, median 1 (IQR, 0 3). This demonstrates that State Qatar's Emergency Department (ED) system, knowing four parameters allows reliable prediction likely convert PCR tests next week. results also suggest attention details minimizing endotracheal intubation (ETI) risk can eliminate expected finding association between ETI numbers.
