ABSTRACT
Objective: The purpose was to investigate the volume changes of hippocampus and amygdala in Social anxiety disorder (SAD) patients healthy subjects. Methods: A total 22 diagnosed with SAD, who were being treated as either inpatients or outpatients at psychiatric clinic our hospital, enrolled study. control group consisted a 20 volunteers dont have exclusion criteria. Exclusion criteria follows: presence depression other comorbidities, severe systemic diseases including diabetes mellitus, chronic renal failure, hypertension, low level education preventing interview, mental retardation. No preliminary preventive measures implemented before imaging. all measured on MRI examinations. intravenous contrast agent administered. Results: mean right left patient 3.47±0.57 cm3 3.44±0.48 cm3, respectively. 3.00±0.24 2.98±0.27 significantly higher than group. 2.05±0.36 2.04±0.37 2.03±0.25cm3 1.98±0.33 not different. By way correlation impaired. Conclusion: Our study revealed abnormalities which may be associated physiopathology SAD.
