Knowledge and Awareness of Evidence Based Medicine among Clinical Medical Students of a University in Nigeria

ABSTRACT
Background: Clinical medical students should understand evidence-based medicine (EBM) to make informed, cost-effective, and acceptable clinical judgments. However, they are not routinely taught about EBM. Objective: This study assessed the awareness knowledge of EBM as well factors associated with it among at Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto. Materials methods: cross-sectional was conducted between July December 2019. The participants were in their 4th 6th year study. data analyzed using SPSS version 20.0 for Windows. proportions percentages calculated, comparisons done Chi-square. A p-value ≤ 0.05 is considered significant. Results: total 300 studied. mean age 25 ± 3.0 years. male-to-female ratio 2.7:1. majority Hausa 224 (74.7%). Close half 134 (44.27%) early year. Overall, ever heard during years 243 (81.0%). 123 (41.0%) had adequate willing learn more 215 (71.7%). There no current curriculum any level. None examined Conclusion: Poor found. We recommend inclusion teaching students. be regular workshops access online journals research purposes.
