Clinical profile of pulmonary and extrapulmonary cases of tuberculosis at a tertiary care center

ABSTRACT
Background: Tuberculosis (TB) is a major communicable disease responsible for chronic illness globally. TB infects the lung primarily. It can transmit to other organs through lymphatic and hematogenous spread. preventable treatable by early diagnosis treatment with anti-tubercular drugs. Aims Objectives: The aims of this study were know clinical profile patients pulmonary extrapulmonary (EPTB). Materials Methods: This observational cross-sectional at was conducted DGH, SBKS MI RC, Vadodara total duration 18 months. Total 102 enrolled in study. All underwent examination, microbiological radiological examination chest X-ray. Results: In study, mean age group 21–30 years (21.6%), 51–60 (18.6%), 70 (11.8%), 41–50 (3.9%). Majority male (57.8%) followed females (42.2%). Patients mostly from rural area (62.7%). Farmers (49%) most commonly involved. 69% 31% EPTB. (59%) lymph node TB. About 56% sputum positive 44% negative 32 EPTB patient samples acid-fast bacilli (AFB), 14 positive, AFB. Conclusion: conclusion cases are male, between 21 30 age.
