ABSTRACT
Background: Bilateral facial nerve palsy is a rare condition characterized by paralysis or weakness of the muscles on both sides face, presenting unique challenges in diagnosis and management. Electroacupuncture, therapeutic modality that applies electrical stimulation to acupuncture needles, has shown promise treating various neurological conditions, but its efficacy bilateral remains understudied. Case Presentation: We present case 42-year-old male patient diagnosed with unknown etiology. Conventional treatments provided minimal improvement, prompting exploration electroacupuncture as an alternative therapy. Diagnostic Assessment: Clinical examination imaging confirmed involvement. No contraindications were identified. Therapeutic Intervention: Electroacupuncture treatment targeted specific acupoints along pathways bilaterally, including ST4 (Dicang), ST6 (Jiache), LI4 (Hegu), LI20 (Yingxiang), GB20 (Fengchi), GV26 (Shuigou) Treatment sessions administered over three weeks. Follow-up Outcome: Following intervention, reported significant improvement muscle strength mobility bilaterally. Objective assessments, standardized grading scales, demonstrated notable symmetry function. adverse effects noted during after treatment. Discussion: This highlights potential adjunctive therapy for palsy. Targeted may facilitate neuroregeneration functional recovery this challenging condition. Conclusion: intervention appears be promising well-tolerated option Further research, larger clinical trials, warranted validate these findings optimize protocols.
