ABSTRACT
To investigate the optimal sonographic method for diagnosing carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) in patients with diabetic sensorimotor polyneuropathy (DSP). A total of 190 participants were divided into four groups based on DSP history and electrodiagnostic results CTS. The absolute parameters measured at baseline relative values calculated: maximal cross-sectional area (CSA) median nerve throughout (Mmax), CSA forearm level (Mf), ulnar pisiform (Upi), difference between Mmax Mf (∆MM), Upi (∆MU). Then, ultrasonographic CTS, according to presence DSP, using cutoff analyzed. Median CSAs significantly larger group than control group. In participants, mean Mmax, ∆MM, ∆MU both CTS only. thresholds 9.5 mm2 11.5 showed greatest sensitivity specificity ∆MM 2.5 4.5 had groups. Measurement is an evaluation DSP.
