ABSTRACT
Two paradigms characterize much of the research in Information Systems discipline: behavioral science and design science. The behavioral-science paradigm seeks to develop verify theories that explain or predict human organizational behavior. design-science extend boundaries capabilities by creating new innovative artifacts. Both are foundational IS discipline, positioned as it is at confluence people, organizations, technology. Our objective describe performance via a concise conceptual framework clear guidelines for understanding, executing, evaluating research. In paradigm, knowledge understanding problem domain its solution achieved building application designed artifact. Three recent exemplars literature used demonstrate these guidelines. We conclude with an analysis challenges performing high-quality context broader community.
