ABSTRACT
Mangroves are one of the largest coastal ecosystems in Indonesia that provide ecosystem functions and services for terrestrial biota, sea, seagrass - coral reefs, surrounding areas. has mangrove area world with an 22.6%, so Indonesian mangroves contribute significantly to absorption carbon dioxide (CO2), greenhouse gases. So Indonesia's play important role regulating global climate change. The forests declined sharply over past two decades. main drivers degradation use settlement cultivation. Currently, sustainable management is needed maintain improve quality mangroves. Mangrove very conservation fish resources. habitat fish, shrimp, crabs, others. ecological or biological function includes spawning grounds, foraging breeding grounds animals, especially crabs shrimp which excellent commodities benefit fishermen. Physically, prevent abrasion, resist seawater intrusion windbreaks, reduce gas emissions such as CO, CO2, SOx NOx air pollutants waters (Noor et al., 2006). factors destruction (1) pollution, (2) conversion without considering environmental factors, (3) excessive deforestation.
