Detection delay of pulmonary tuberculosis patients among migrants in China: a cross-sectional study

ABSTRACT
1) To explore the characteristics of patient and diagnostic delays among migrant tuberculosis (TB) patients in Shandong, China; 2) to identify factors associated with delays, for development improvement TB control strategy migrants China.A cross-sectional study was conducted 12 counties Shandong Province using a semi-structured questionnaire. A total 314 smear-positive pulmonary registered county dispensary sampling sites from 1 August 2007 31 July 2008 were selected.Among patients, median delay 10 days, 8 days. quarter participants had >22 days >16 Factors affecting detection included financial conditions, health insurance status, working time, age, severity initial symptoms, geographic access TB-related care facilities first visited.Interventions such as expansion free service package education about diagnosis community personnel are urgently required early case migrants.
