ABSTRACT
For decades, BNCT was seen as an attractive concept and intellectual challenge with no prospect of widespread clinical application. This situation has changed fundamentally in just a few years the progress accelerator technology. Low-energy, high-intensity neutron sources can now be integrated into hospitals are therefore directly available for patient treatment. A pioneer this field is development Japan, where patients already being treated three hospitals, using in-house accelerator-based systems. Furthermore, costs associated treatment recurrent tumors head neck area covered by healthcare system. It time to keep up date technology work make it high-tech medicine other countries, especially Europe North America. short article summarizes main principles BNCT, outlines some aspects its history mentions ongoing projects well hurdles that need overcome, scientific questions addressed wider availability method.
