ABSTRACT
To investigate the restorative quality of sleep and daytime functioning in sleepwalking adult patients comparison with controls.Prospective case-control study.Data were collected at Sleep Disorders Center, Hôpital-Gui-de Chauliac, Montpellier, France between June 2007 January 2011.There 140 sleepwalkers (100 (median age 30 y, 55% male) whom primary SW was diagnosed) who underwent 1 night video polysomnography. All participated a standardized clinical interview completed battery questionnaires to assess characteristics parasomnia, sleepiness, fatigue, insomnia, depressive anxiety symptoms, health-related life. Results compared those 100 sex- age-matched normal controls.N/A.Of sleepwalkers, 22.3% presented daily episodes 43.5% weekly episodes. Median onset 9 y. Familial history reported 56.6% violent related behaviors 57.9%, including injuries requiring medical care for least one episode 17%. Significant associations found altered Early-onset had higher frequency injuries.
