Assessing The Role of Multi-Sectoral Platforms and Their Influence on Nutrition Outcomes in West Pokot County, Kenya

ABSTRACT
Background: Various actors continue to implement food and nutrition security interventions in West Pokot. SMART Survey Report, 2022 indicates higher stunting rates of 43.2% against 26% at national level. Multisector approach offers comprehensive strategies enhance systems as well (FNS) through addressing underlying basic causes malnutrition which seem be missed out most interventions. The paper highlights the functionality multi-sectorial platforms (MSP) their influence on FNS issues Pokot County. Methods: A cross sectional design utilizing qualitative data collection methods was utilized. 25 Key Informant Interviews with purposively selected representatives from line ministries implementing partners were conducted. Additionally, 9 FGDs Community Based Organizations Health Volunteers Qualitative audio recorded, translated, transcribed verbatim coded using MAXQDA version 22. Data analyzed thematically deductive inductive methods. Results: findings indicated lack awareness existence objectives multi-sectoral County priorities among stakeholders. There minimal evidence stakeholder participation development subcounty community levels, poor dissemination MSP terms reference. At level, limited due high prices, road networks for distribution cultural practices that limit consumption certain foods. It also noted some members preservation leading wastage. Facilitating factors included availability well-established government structures technical capacity various Barriers included: inadequate financial human resources support MSP, coordinate failure prioritize by Proposed sustainability mechanisms Need strengthen commitment fund convene MSPs, improve stakeholders institutionalize ministries. Conclusion: is need inclusivity all processes including design, implementation monitoring. To ensure sustainability, there contribution co-funding activities.
