ABSTRACT
Abstract A method was developed for microplate-based oxygen radicals absorbance capacity (ORAC) using pyrogallol red (PGR) as probe (ORAC-PGR). The evaluated linearity, precision, and accuracy. In addition, the antioxidant of commercial beverages, such wines, fruit juices, iced teas, measured. Linearity area under curve (AUC) versus Trolox® concentration plots [AUC = (845 ± 110) + (23 2) [Trolox, μM]; R 0.9961, n 19]. Analyses showed better precision accuracy at highest Trolox (40 μM) with RSD recovery (REC) values 1.7 101.0%, respectively. also good linearity wine (787 77) (690 60) [red wine, μL/mL]; 0.9926, 17], from 1.4 to 8.3%, REC that ranged 89.7 103.8%. Red wines higher ORAC-PGR than white while index juices teas presented a wide range results, 0.6 21.6 mM equivalents. Product-to-product variability observed same fruit, showing differences between brands on index.
