ABSTRACT
Background: Establishing venous access is a challenging job for pediatric nurses, especially in the emergency department. Measures to ensure higher success rates on first attempt are important provide quality nursing care. Objectives: To explore effect of grade management establishing peripheral child population China and analyze factors influencing failed IV attempt. Methods: This an observational study children aged 0 - 16 years old undergoing catheterization children's hospital. Patient information was collected before attempting each puncture. Logistic regression used identify independent prediction. Results: A total 1,016 subjects enrolled. The rate intravenous puncture 86.02%. can be influenced by several factors, such as patient age, department, condition, nurse experience. within two attempts 96.85%; number catheters per 1.21. Conclusions: date, only few studies have explored China. Grade veins nurses facilitated first-attempt than previously published reports. Failures were multifactorial. insertion improved through applying assistance devices or enhancing venipuncture skills nurses.
