ABSTRACT
Rapid urbanization is the major cause for Land Use and Cover changes globally. The alters land surface dynamics affects temperature, which gives rise to urban heat island effect. In present study, spatial correlation analysis has been done between Surface Temperature (LST) (LULC) city of Chandigarh. LST retrieved from Landsat-8 thermal band using Mono-Window algorithm shows 2.5°C increase temperature 2016 2022. LULC derived Maximum Likelihood Classifier (MLC) an in built-up 7.56% decrease forest cover by 32%. Spectral indices belonging classes have Sentinel-2 optical bands spatially correlated with linear regression analysis. results show a strong positive (r=0.988) negative (r=-0.625) vegetation LST. mean coefficient LST-NDVI cover, LST-NDWI water bodies, LST-NDBI LST-NBLI bare -0.3, 0.116, 0.51 0.392 respectively. indicate that bodies mitigate LST, whereas areas lands sustain statistical will be helpful policy makers planners prevention further degradation environment dynamics.
