Causal Model of Factors Influencing Adherence to Standard Precautions Practices Among Chinese Emergency Nurses: A Cross-sectional Study

ABSTRACT
Standard precautions are essential to prevent cross-infections among emergency nurses, particularly during a pandemic of infectious diseases. However, poor adherence such standard is an ongoing global health system problem. This may be due nurses’ lack adequate understanding regarding the influencing mechanisms various factors that cause cross-infection in practice. In this cross-sectional study, we rigorously utilized Theory Planned Behaviors as guiding framework develop and test causal model practices Chinese nurses. From July 2022 February 2023, purposive sampling was used recruit 310 nurses from eight tertiary hospitals four cities Sichuan Province, China, COVID-19 pandemic. Research instruments included Demographic Data Form, Precautions Questionnaire, Leading Culture Quality Infection Prevention Scale, Compliance with Scale. were analyzed using descriptive statistics Analysis Moment Structure program factors. The final explained 36% variance. provides practical tool for improving precautions. prevention climate intention can affect directly. addition, attitudes precautions, social norms perceived behavioral control infection indirectly affected through mediator. Among these factors, had most substantial effect on practices. These findings underscore pivotal role nursing administrators highlighting remarkable benefits shaping positive confidence toward creating supportive control. By implementing strategies, significantly improve ensuring safer healthcare environment workers, patients, public.
