ABSTRACT
The existence of three autochthonous crayfish species is confirmed in the northwest Republic Srpska: Astacus astacus, Pontastacus leptodactylus and Austropotamobius torrentium. There a lack information on European population status Srpska comparing to other countries. Our aim generate latest distribution status, make it basis for managing preserving natural population. present study was implemented period from April 2018 until September 2019. Mostly distributed A. torrentium registered 12 locations at altitude ranging 201 846 m Vrbas river basin, but also tributary streams Sana river, ecologically-like habitats, particular relatively clear waters with low quantity organic substances (I II water category). astacus mainly Crna forming both lake (a great number thereof Balkana lake) – oxygen concentration over 8g O2 m-3 BOD5 values below 0.5g m-3. P. found only two locations: Matura (in Srbac) (upstream Razboj), I-III category waters. identified possible threats fresh ecosystems require urgent management preservation actions.
