ABSTRACT
Human papillomaviruses (HPV) may play an important role as one of the possible etiologies oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). The present study aimed to investigate association between HPV and OSCC in young Japanese patients by examining presence DNA surrogate markers tissues.Forty with whose surgical specimens were available analyzed compared 40 randomly recruited from a pool aged >40 years. was detected using polymerase chain reaction-based AMPLICOR(®) test, infection immunohistochemical techniques detect p16(INK4a) p53.Only two (5%) (2.5%) older patient positive for DNA. overexpression identified six (15%) patients. p53 staining levels not high tissues most (27 patients, 67.5%). status did significantly correlate expression levels. Profiles increased diminished associated combined profiles correlated alcohol consumption younger (p=0.006).RESULTS indicate that is less likely cause level appropriate marker OSCC.
