ABSTRACT
Matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-2 and MMP-9 are important proteases involved in invasion metastasis of various tumors. Extra-gastrointestinal stromal tumors (EGISTs) rare neoplasms. This study was performed to assess MMP-2 expression EGIST tissue samples for association with clinicopathological data from the patients. Twenty-one surgical specimens were collected analysis MMP- 9 using immunohistochemistry. proteins expressed all epithelial cell types EGISTs, whereas they only 75% spindle type, although there no statistically significant difference (p>0.05). Expression associated tumor size, mitotic rate, necrosis, distant (p<0.05). linked levels However, correlation between age, sex, primary site, or morphology any these 21 patients Moreover, increased degree risk. provided evidence an advanced behavior.
