Awareness and Practices Regarding Breast and Cervical Cancer among Turkish Women in Gazientep

ABSTRACT
Cancer is a major public health problem both in our country and worldwide due to its disease burden, fatality tendency for increased incidence. In Turkey, breast cancer ranks first with an incidence of 41.6% cervical the tenth most common 4.4%.This descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted 240 women aged from 15 65 years admitted gynecology-obstetrics outpatient clinic private hospital Gaziantep. Study data were collected by investigators through 36-item questionnaire form which generated using information gathered similar surveys literature.It determined that 34.6% high-school graduates, 64.2% had medium income level. The majority (79.2%) stated they never performed BSE 49.5% them said did not know how do it. Some 79.2% what Pap smear 73.3% experienced test ever.In this study, we found insufficient knowledge cancer, while practices education Based on these findings, suggest there need planning, implementation assessment policies healthcare services at national regional level believe nurses working field protective should develop educational programmes primary focus order increase awareness among female population Turkey.
