Multicenter Epidemiologic Study on Hepatocellular Carcinoma in Turkey

ABSTRACT
Background: Hepatocellular cancer (HCC) is one of the important health problems in Turkey, being very common and highly lethal. The aim this study was to determine clinical, demographic features risk factors. Materials Methods: Nine hundred sixth-three patients with HCC from 13 cities Turkey were included study. Results: Only 205 (21%) 963 women, a male:female predominance 4.8:1 median age 61 years. etiologic factors for hepatitis B 555 (57.6%), 453 (81%) men, 102 (19%) again male predominance, C 159 (16.5%), (14.9% 22.4%, higher incidence women), chronic alcohol abuse (more than ten years) 137 (14.2%) (16.8% 4.9%, males). Child-Pugh score paralleled advanced disease stage amd also high level AFP. Conclusions: According our findings viral etiology (hepatitis infections) Turkish population most factor development, as third factor. classification AFP levels determined be prognostic patients.
