ABSTRACT
Genetic polymorphisms in DNA repair genes may influence individual variation capacity, which be associated with risk of developing cancer. For colorectal cancer the importance mutations mismatch has been extensively documented. In this study we focused on Arg194Trp polymorphism gene XRCC1, involved base excision (BER) and its role Kashmiri population. A case-control was conducted including 100 cases cancer, hospital-based age- sex-matched healthy controls to examine XRCC1 genetic context for population.Genotype analysis a restriction fragment length (RFLP) method. The overall association between CRC found significant (p<0.05) both heterozygous genotype (Arg/Trp) as well homozygous variant (Trp/Trp) being moderately elevated [OR=2.01 (95% CI=1.03-3.94) OR=5.2(95% CI=1.42-19.5)] respectively. Our results suggest an increased individuals suggesting BER pathway modulates
