Fat distribution and major depressive disorder in late adolescence

OBJECTIVE Substantial evidence exists to indicate bidirectional relationships between obesity and depressive disorders the importance of fat distribution this relationship. RESULTS The included data from 200 participants (71% female; mean age = 19.0 ± 1.6 years), 128 current MDD. presence MDD was associated increased mass among (Cohen d 0.79, P < .02), but not normal weight true both nonvisceral measures. Accounting generalized anxiety (GAD) did alter findings. CONCLUSION In adolescents, central adiposity may be those who are overweight/obese. Despite high comorbidity GAD disorders, only latter appeared significantly adiposity.
