Recent increase in the distribution of the snail kite (Rostrhamus sociabilis) along the central Pacific Coast of México

ABSTRACT
New records of the snail kite (Rostrhamus sociabilis) are presented for central Pacific Coast Mexico.From April 2010 to August 2011, weekly or biweekly surveys were made through several wetlands coastal Jaliscoand Colima. We recorded 32 kites from October 2011. The recordings in 8 wetlands. Inall there was only 1 individual, except lagoons El Aguacate (June 2010) and Tule (August 2012),where we 3 5 individuals, respectively. Although did not find any nests, believe reproduction ofsnail is currently occurring because observed adult behavior (carrying small branches its feet) therecords juveniles during month February July, a time corresponding breeding season species inFlorida. Our expand distribution Mexico as much 900 km northwest previouslypublished species.
