ABSTRACT
The conserved family of Hedgehog (Hh) signaling proteins plays a key role in cell–cell communication development, tissue repair, and cancer progression, inducing distinct concentration-dependent responses target cells located at short long distances. One simple mechanism for distance dispersal the lipid modified Hh is direct contact between cell membranes through filopodia-like structures known as cytonemes. Here we have analyzed Drosophila interaction glypicans Dally Dally-like protein, necessary signaling, adhesion molecules coreceptors Ihog Boi. We describe that are required to maintain levels Ihog, but not also show overexpression Boi, regulates cytoneme dynamics their with glypicans, fibronectin III domains being essential this interaction. Our data suggest regulation over specifically given by Contrary previous data, there no redundancy Boi functions gradient formation, long-range gradient.
