ABSTRACT
Cholecystectomy is the gold standard treatment for gallbladder disease. As life expectancy increases, awareness of cholecystitis in elderly changes. The safety and feasibility cholecystectomy octogenarians have been proven many studies. Surgical should be considered even nonagenarians. In this study, we aimed to assess outcomes nonagenarians with acute cholecystitis.A total 393 patients aged 80 89 years (352 octogenarians) 90 99 (41 nonagenarians) diagnosed underwent between March 2012 June 2020. All were classified according Tokyo guidelines. evaluated parameters included demographic data, surgical outcomes, American Society Anesthesiologists physical status classification, guidelines.All analyzed divided into two groups age; (83.57 ± 2.64 years) (92.98 3.15 years). survival rate was 97.7% 97.6% Laparoscopic surgery performed more both (96.8% 92.7% than open (3.2% 7.3% nonagenarians). operation time nonagenarian group (74.63 30.83 minutes) shorter octogenarian (75.85 34.63 minutes). incidences postoperative complications as follows pneumonia, 5.7% 7.3%; bleeding, 1.7% 2.4%; gastrointestinal symptoms, 6.0% bile leakage, 0.6% 2.4%, respectively.Cholecystectomy a safe efficient procedure
