ABSTRACT
Objective. To evaluate the appearance of lower uterine segment (LUS) in pregnant women with previous cesarean delivery and to compare LUS thickness that unscarred uteri. Methods. In a prospective study, sonographic examination was performed on 53 (cesarean group), 40 nulliparas (nullip‐control), who had 1 or more childbirths uteri (multip‐control) between 36 38 weeks' gestation assess LUS. group, findings were correlated outcome intraoperative appearance. Results. 44 patients (83.0%) normal‐appearing indistinguishable from control groups; 2 (3.8%) an defect suggestive dehiscence; 7 (13.2%) thickened areas increased echogenicity without myometrial thinning. Although group thinner (1.9 ± 1.4 mm) when compared both nullip‐control (2.3 1.1 mm; P > .05) multip‐control (3.4 2.2 < .001), only latter difference achieved statistical significance. One sonographically suspected confirmed dehiscence during surgery. An intraoperatively diagnosed paper‐thin LUS, normal thickness, significantly smaller measurements (1.1 0.6 versus 2.0 0.8 mm, respectively; = .004). Conclusions. Prior is associated those prior vaginal delivery. Prenatal potentially capable diagnosing determining degree thinning
