ABSTRACT
An eighty-nine-year-old Japanese male was admitted to our hospital due dry cough and dyspnea.Respiratory symptoms appeared soon after an administration of oriental medicine, Kamikihito for tinnitus.Upon admission, chest computed tomography showed patchy consolidations ground-glass opacities in the right upper lobe lungs, bilateral lower lobes.Sulbactam-ampicillin combination (SBT/ ABPC, 3 g × 2/day) started addition change or cessation several other drugs, including Kamikihito, resulting respiratory radiographic exacerbations.Bronchoalveolar lavage fluid obtained from S increase total cell number lymphocytes.A drug lymphocyte stimulation test (DLST) also positive.Kamikihito-induced lung injury most likely, treatment with prednisolone (50 mg/day) started.His findings improved rapidly initiating oral prednisolone.This is first report Kamikihito-induced injury.
