ABSTRACT
Tidal flat areas in estuaries are affected by strong morphodynamics. Changes of sedimentation and erosion occur on different temporal spatial scales. These changes challenge the responsible authorities due to high importance sufficient navigation channel depths ecological those unique zones. In cooperation with Hamburg Port Authority University Technology runs broad field measurements tidal Elbe estuary. The results provide a fundamental data set improve knowledge about morphodynamic processes. For more than 3 years water levels, waves, current parameters suspended sediment concentrations being recorded continuously resolution at positions marine investigation area. Therefore, ADCP's, optical backscatter sensors (OBS) pressure transducers (PT) used. To observe consequences processes, bathymetry is determined multi-beam echo sounder (MBES) frequent intervals as well after extreme events like storm surges. Derived from certain patterns erosion, transport could be observed depending currents, waves large scale weather conditions. Seasonal effects analyzed influence events. processes compared limnic area, where second, shorter study was carried out.
