Abstract Introduction/Aims NURTURE (NCT02386553) is an open‐label study of nusinersen in children (two SMN2 copies, n = 15; three 10) who initiated treatment the presymptomatic stage spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). A prior analysis after ~3 y showed benefits on survival, respiratory outcomes, motor milestone achievement, and a favorable safety profile. An additional 2 follow‐up (data cut: February 15, 2021) are reported. Methods The primary endpoint time to death or intervention (≥6 h/day...

OBJECTIVE: The identification of predictors major depression in the transition to adulthood has direct application prevention and intervention efforts designed forestall this high-risk period. current study identified childhood adolescent familial behavioral-emotional factors predicting during critical developmental stage. A study of 384 18-year-old adolescents living in the community demonstrated a frequent co-occurrence substance use disorders and post-traumatic stress disorder. Multiple pathways appeared to lead this comorbidity, which was associated with widespread psychological impairment that might have serious developmental consequences. Implications for research practice are discussed.

ABSTRACT Aims Problem gambling can create major financial, emotional and sometimes criminal problems for an individual. This study prospectively investigated the association between impulsive behavior at age 7 development of life‐time problem by adulthood. We also examined specificity any observed behaviors conducting parallel analyses examining link respondents' shy/depressed in childhood later gambling. Design, setting participants Cohort 958 offspring mothers enrolled Collaborative...

BACKGROUND: Although long-held wisdom and current research suggests that accepting supportive family relationships may positively influence adult psychosocial functioning, few studies have prospectively investigated these associations. This study examined whether positive factors during adolescence are associated with healthy functioning. METHOD: The 353 participants were part of a single-age cohort whose development has been traced. Two aspects functioning - feeling highly valued as member...

This study examined the association between active and past major depression deficits in young adult functioning using data from a longitudinal community (N = 354). Three groups were compared: (1) participants with 1-year diagnosis of at age 26 (active group); (2) those who experienced during transition to adulthood, ages 18–25, but did not have (past (3) individuals meeting diagnostic criteria for period. Results highlight serious psychosocial linked both depression. Although greatest...

Nusinersen clinical trials have limited data on adolescents and adults with 5q-associated spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). We conducted a systematic literature review (SLR) meta-analysis to assess effectiveness of nusinersen in SMA practice.

Background Although many observational studies have found a strong association between maternal smoking during pregnancy (MSP) and offspring antisocial behaviour, the likelihood that this relationship is causal remains unclear. To comment on potential causality of association, current investigation used between–within decomposition approach to examine MSP multiple indices adolescent adult behaviour. Methods Study participants were women enrolled in Providence Boston sites Collaborative...

Background
Although a number of previous studies have reported an association between maternal smoking during pregnancy (MSP) and externalising behaviour problems among offspring, it has been suggested that this relationship is spurious due to the failure these properly account for important confounding factors.
Methods
The MSP adult criminal offending was examined using data from 3766 members Providence, Rhode Island, cohort Collaborative Perinatal Project. Background Persistent engagement in antisocial behaviour across developmental periods is thought to increase the risk for early disease morbidity. However, less known about potential adverse health outcomes among much larger subset of individuals with limited adolescence. Methods Using data from Providence, Rhode Island cohort Collaborative Perinatal Project, we examined association between developmentally based subtypes and (n=801). Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) is a rare neuromuscular disease characterized by progressive and weakness. Nusinersen was the first treatment approved for SMA. Per US label, nusinersen administration schedule consists of three loading doses at 14-day intervals, fourth dose 30 days later, maintenance every 4 months thereafter. Using two large databases, we evaluated real-world adherence to with its unique dosing among generalizable populations patients Patients SMA treated nusinersen, likely...
