Proventricular dilatation disease (PDD) is a fatal disorder of psittacine birds worldwide. The characterized by lymphoplasmacytic infiltration the central and peripheral nervous systems, leading to gastrointestinal motility and/or system dysfunction. Recently, we detected significant association between avian bornavirus (ABV) infection clinical signs PDD in psittacines. However, it remains unclear whether ABV actually causes PDD. To address this question, examined impact inoculation on...

A novel infectious bronchitis variant, designated as IS/885/00, associated with nephritis, was isolated from outbreaks in 23 broiler farms Israel. The virus first identified by reverse transcriptase–polymerase chain reaction and showed a distinct restriction fragment length polymorphism pattern previously described Israeli isolates. Sequence analysis of the S1 gene deduced amino acid sequence revealed 97.2% protein similarity to genotype IS/720/99 71.6% vaccine strain H120, only permitted...

Marek's disease (MD) is a highly contagious lymphoproliferative of chickens caused by herpesvirus, while reticuloendotheliosis (REV) virus an avian C-type retrovirus that causes bursal and nonbursal lymphomas which often closely resemble MDV lymphomas. To provide rapid sensitive means diagnosing differentiating between these two neoplastic conditions, we have applied the PCR. The primers chosen to detect sequences flank 132 bp tandem repeat BamHI-H fragment, whose PCR product specific for...

Summary This study identifies and compares the distribution of mononuclear cells in mammary gland tissues milk healthy chronically infected with Staphylococcus aureus cows. Somatic cell counts (SCCs) during 3 months before were >1 × 10 6 cell/ml quarters <1 5 infection‐free quarters. Immediately after slaughter, samples from above cistern supra‐mammary lymph node collected. No histological differences found between nodes udders, both appeared normal. In glands, SCC was <50 000...

Capripox vaccine (strain 0240) caused severe generalised skin reactions in vaccinated dairy cattle two herds, whereas beef did not develop reactions. All the reacting animals developed lumpy disease-like lesions. The incidence of lesions first-lactation cows herd A was 22.9 per cent and B 29.3 cent, mainly post-calving period. In older cows, 10 12.4 B. high-yielding lactating were most severely affected. There a decrease 3.5 milk production each over period 12 days, six first calving (3.5...

An 80-year-old psoriatic patient developed a blistering eruption during oral PUVA therapy. The diagnosis of bullous pemphigoid (BP) was established by routine histopathology, which demonstrated subepidermal blistering, and direct immunofluorescence, revealed linear deposits IgG, IgM C3 along the basement membrane zone. Indirect immunofluorescence using normal human split skin binding IgG antibodies to epidermal side, thus confirming disorder. These proteins were identified immunoblotting...

Abstract A case of adverse post‐vaccination allergic reactions, which occurred in a dairy cattle herd 8 days after the annual foot‐and‐mouth disease (FMD) vaccination, is described. The dermatologic lesions observed these included: urticaria, exudative and necrotic dermatitis, along with oedema vesicles on teats. These reactions 11.3% heifers, 10% first‐lactating cows 14.6% adult cows. average loss milk production for an affected cow this farm was 21.5% per day, seven consecutive days....

Two forms of Corynebacterium pseudotuberculosis infection in Israeli dairy cattle herds during a survey period 13 years (1989-2001) are described. The more common form, which was diagnosed 45 herds, characterized by ulcerative granulomatous lesions occurred either sporadically--in 26 (with morbidity rate up to 5%)--or an epidemic course 19 herds. Most (80.6%) the affected animals were cows; rest first-calving cows (16.2%) and heifers (3.2%). mostly summer months. appeared three clinical...

Malignant catarrhal fever (MCF. corrizza contagiosa) is an invariably fatal communicable disease in cattle, whose causative agent the ovine herpes virus-2, or alcelaphine virus-1. In one feed-lot family farm, 34 calves out of 100 became ill at rate to four per week, and all them subsequently died over a period 4 months. Most initial cases were manifested clinically as head eye form, but most entire clinical spectrum forms (the respiratory, intestinal nervous forms) characteristic for MCF...
