Aims:The aim of this study was to investigate whether minimising trauma the aortic annulus and left ventricular outflow tract reduces occurrence new conduction disorders need for permanent pacemakers. Methods results: A total 175 patients (58% female, mean age 83±6 years) underwent transfemoral TAVI with Boston Scientific ACURATE neo at three centres in Europe.Prosthesis size selection based on perimeter-derived annular diameter.Predilatation performed all a balloon 1.9±0.9mm smaller than...
Here we describe the first implantation of novel bicavally anchored Tricento transcatheter heart valve via transvenous transfemoral access in a 74-year-old woman with severe tricuspid regurgitation and holosystolic hepatic vein backflow. Following successful implantation, caval regurgitant volume was reduced leading to symptomatic clinical improvement at three-month follow-up. The device represents promising, therapeutic option for patients who are not candidates open surgery.
A novel real-time three-dimensional echocardiography (RT3DE) analysis tool specifically designed for evaluation of the left atrium enables comprehensive atrial (LA) size, global, and regional function using a dynamic 16-segment model. The aim this study was initial validation method computed tomography (CT) as reference. The population consisted 34 prospectively enrolled patients with clinical indication pulmonary vein isolation. polyhedron model generated RT3DE. LA maximum minimum volumes...
Abstract Aims Patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) are at high risk for coronary artery disease (CAD) related events and often asymptomatic. The role of cardiac imaging in screening asymptomatic T2DM patients remains controversial, as existing studies limited by short follow-up periods. Therefore, study aim was to provide long-term (10 years) outcome data screened imaging. Methods results A total 400 asymptomatic, high-risk without history CAD underwent Single Photon Emission...
Background Previous reports have described a leveling off of mortality from premature coronary artery disease (CAD). In recent years, the prevalence cardiovascular risk factors has increased in rural communities and young adults. Methods Results We extracted CAD rates Centers for Disease Control Prevention Wide‐Ranging Online Data Epidemiologic Research (CDC WONDER) database 1999 to 2017, focusing on (defined as <65 years age women) urban–rural differences. Variations over time, assessed...
It is not clear whether diabetes reduces systolic left ventricular function (left ejection fraction, LVEF) irrespective of coronary artery disease (CAD). The aim this study was to compare the LVEF between diabetic and non-diabetic patients with respect extent CAD.Consecutive undergoing stress myocardial perfusion SPECT (MPS) were evaluated. MPS interpreted using a 20-segment model five-point scale define summed score (SSS), rest score, difference score. measured by gated then compared status...
Regadenoson was approved for clinical use in Europe 2011. Since then, it has become the default form of stress at our institution. We have assessed side-effect profile and tolerability regadenoson patients undergoing clinically indicated myocardial perfusion scintigraphy between July 2011 2012.Clinical, imaging data were recorded prospectively. Symptoms during defined as mild, moderate or severe. An adverse event any symptom that persisted more than 30 min required investigation treatment.Of...
One-third of patients undergoing transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) have an indication for long-term oral anticoagulation (OAC).
Report predictors and the natural course of paravalvular leak (PVL) following implantation ACURATE neo transcatheter heart valve (THV). Understanding mechanisms PVL may help to improve patient selection, outcomes design next-generation THVs. A total 30 patients (mean age 81±5 years, 47% women) undergoing aortic replacement with were enrolled in PREDICT study. The effective regurgitant orifice area (EROA, mm2) was assessed by transthoracic transoesophageal echocardiography before discharge at...
