The article discusses the first results of studying structure bottom topography and sediments Chukhlomskoe Lake (Kostroma Region, Chukhlomsky District). We analyzed lake based on our bathymetric survey discovered two hollows with maximum depths diverging from lake’s center towards city Chukhloma. depth inside (and for entire lake) reaches 5.4 m, average is 2.2 m. There are steps seen in topography; 2.0–2.4 m 1.5–1.8 sediment was revealed by drilling ice boreholes (with lengths 9.45 7.45...
The article presents the results of a palynological study Lake Chukhlomskoye bottom sediments. Pollen analysis in combination with from 14C and 137Cs dating made it possible to reconstruct main stages changes plant communities Kostroma Volga region at end Pleniglacial during Late Glacial: 19.5–16.9 cal. ka BP – periglacial steppe, 16.9–14.7 birch forest-steppe, 14.7–12.7 spruce birch-spruce forests open woods periglacial-steppe meadow communities, 12.7–11.7 forest-steppe rare participation spruce.
The sediments of shallow basins formed along the coast Baltic glacial lake around 14,500-14,000 cal BP provide a valuable source information for reconstructing environmental changes in Bølling-Allerød. Radiocarbon dating and complex lithological diatom analyzes were performed deposits one these paleo-reservoirs, exposed Kulikovo section (northern part Sambian Peninsula). Diatoms 14,100 – 13,400 are mostly presented by benthic epithytic oligohalobic species. We compared obtained data with...
The paper discusses the structure of bottom sediments Lake Chukhlomskoye (Kostroma region, Russia). results complex lithological analysis and 14C AMS dating (TOC) revealed in two boreholes located different geomorphological positions relief allowed to reconstruct stages conditions sedimentation lake. Mass accumulation rate (MAR) was calculated. High values MAR correspond 25.4–17.5 cal ka BP (up 0.192 g/cm2 per year), a sharp decrease corresponds 17.9–16.7 BP, another stage sediment influx...
The paper discusses new palynological data obtained from the bottom sediments of Lake Chukhlomskoye (Kostroma region). location lake beyond limits Late Valdaian ice sheet made it possible to reconstruct vegetation changes during maximum phase glaciation and compare them with previously Galichskoye. 25-21 thousand calibrated years BP, region was occupied by open periglacial steppe limited participation birch spruce forests in most protected habitats, continuous spread permafrost. Climatic...
Late glacial sections of Kulikovo and Utinoe Boloto (Kaliningrad Oblast) were studied using litho- logical, geochronological, diatom, palynological, geochemical, chironomid microbiomorph analyses. The stages development the palaeobasin, which existed within limits modern coast south-eastern part Baltic Sea during Bølling-Allerød period (14.3–13.4 ka), are described. A detailed characterisation Pleistocene biota palaeobasin was made, more than 200 taxa diatom algae found. reconstruction local...
The sediments of shallow basins formed along the coast Baltic Ice Lake about 14 500-14 000 cal BP provide a valuable data to reconstruct environmental changes in Bølling-Allerød Interstadial. Radiocarbon dating and complex lithological diatom analyzes were performed for deposits one these paleoreservoirs exposed Kulikovo section (northern part Sambian Peninsula). As result studying aged – 13 400 total number 117 species identified, oligohalobic indifferent eutrophic benthic predominated....
Abstract Integrated paleogeographic studies have been performed on the loess and soil sequence in lower reaches of Orkhon R., northern Mongolia. The samples were taken continuously through studied using a broad assortment field laboratory analyses. There are five paleosols exposed section under study crowned with present-day separated from each other by horizons or proluvial-deluvial deposits. dating radiocarbon proved development beginning early Holocene. two soils (PS4 PS5) formed at that...
The results of morphometric analysis based on the SRTM digital elevation model large enclosed depressions (LEDs) controversial origin, commonly found loess interfluves in Northern Black Sea region, around Azov, at Western flanks Caucus Mountains and Lower Don basin, are presented paper. We have registered 312 LEDs landforms. characteristics landforms vary from 0.4 to 216 km2 for area, 1 21 m depth, 0.5 13.3 km width, 0.7 27.5 length, 4 elongation coefficient, 3.3 103.3 a.s.l height. most...
A comprehensive analysis of the deposits paleo-reservoir represented in Kulikovo section (the northern part Sambian Peninsula) has been carried out. According to results radiocarbon dating, formed approximately from 14100 12900 cal yr BP. The most detailed data were obtained for lower (depth 192–141 cm), comprising Older Dryas and first half Allerød. Results a lithological, diatom, spore-and-pollen algo-zoological microfossil allowed us identify 8 stages sedimentation conditions paleo-reservoir.
Abstract A proglacial lake system formed during the Late Valdai (Weichselian) Ice Sheet recession on East European Plain. Poor knowledge about chronology, levels and drainage pathways of ice‐dammed lakes does not allow us to fully evaluate their palaeogeographic significance. This study focuses Izborsko‐Malskaya Valley where fingerprints a glaciolacustrine environment were found. Based litho‐, biostratigraphic geochronological data, it is estimated that in existed from ~14.3 ka cal. BP (the...
Abstract. The article discusses the first results of geomorphological and paleolimnological study Lake Chukhlomskoe (Kostroma region). We analyzed topography lake bottom using new bathymetric data from 2021 fieldwork. structure basin slopes was studied hand drilling. Analytical characteristics sediments core (grain size distribution, loss on ignition, magnetic susceptibility, AMS-dating palynological data) are presented. distribution organic matter, carbonates particle by depth allow us to...
