Paddy soils make up the largest anthropogenic wetlands on earth, and are characterized by a prominent potential for organic carbon (C) sequestration. By quantifying plant- microbial-derived C in across four climate zones, we identified that accrual is achieved via contrasting pathways paddy upland soils. Paddies 39%-127% more efficient soil (SOC) sequestration than their adjacent counterparts, with greater differences warmer cooler climates. Upland replenished C, whereas enriched proportion...

Abstract A magnetotelluric (MT) study across the Red Lake greenstone belt of western Superior craton, Canada, images a 50-km-long north-dipping conductor (<20 Ω·m) at 20–25 km depth and subvertical conductors spatially correlated with crustal-scale shear zones large orogenic gold deposits. The are interpreted to be conductivity signature deep crustal source auriferous fluids pathways system. geophysical results, supported by existing geochemical fluid inclusion studies, suggest that...

The subduction of major oceans may involve ridge-trench interactions at various convergence angles, but their consequences have not been well constrained. We defined orogenic components and evolution in southern West-East Junggar the Central Asian Orogenic Belt by integrating structural analysis geological relationships, geophysical geochemical features, to provide insights into changes an architecture undergoes. Late Silurian−Early Devonian adakitic rocks apparently resulted from ridge...

Abstract A new 80‐site magnetotelluric (MT) survey, integrated with reprocessed seismic reflection profiles, across the supergiant Timmins‐Porcupine gold camp of Abitibi greenstone belt (AGB) was conducted to investigate architecture crustal‐scale structures. Resistivity sections derived from 3‐D MT inversions reveal a significant 600 S conductor north Porcupine‐Destor fault zone at 3–5 km depth striking east‐west parallel Pipestone zone. It is attributed deeply buried >2687 Ma graphitic...

U-Pb ages of detrital zircons from metasedimentary rocks the Sawtooth metamorphic complex (SMC) are key for identifying stratigraphic age metamorphosed strata within Idaho batholith region Cordilleran orogen. The SMC is an exposure medium- to high-grade surrounded by and batholiths. quartzites quartzofeldspathic gneisses yield two distinctive spectra consisting primary 2900–2510 Ma 1990–1760 one group 1870–1670 Ma, 1490–1330 1220–1020 other group. suite samples also yields a small number...

Correlating structurally distinctive fault zones for understanding an unknown deformation system at the regional scale remains a challenge orogenic evolution and gold endowment. The current study deals with this in southern Michipicoten greenstone belt (MGB) of Superior craton focusing on Neoarchean auriferous zone network. Three events associated episodic mineralization are revealed ca. 2745 Ma host granitoid: (1) northwest‒southeast shortening recorded by subvertical Grace Minto B locally...

Abstract The temperature sensitivity ( Q 10 ) of soil organic C (SOC) decomposition is an important parameter to predict dynamics under climate change. Given that SOC mainly protected by aggregates and minerals, differentiating the two fractions helps explain bulk dynamics. In present study, we collected agricultural soils from adjacent paddy upland areas in mid‐temperate (Mollisols) subtropic (Ultisols) regions China. We employed density fractionation separate aggregate‐protected free...

Abstract Long-term stability of the continental lithosphere is attained through a cumulative increase in net buoyancy and rigidity due to progressive compositional differentiation (i.e., cratonization). As stable cratons provided nucleus for subsequent accretionary growth tectono-magmatic reworking that produced modern crust, geodynamic processes facilitated stabilization are critical understanding evolution Earth’s lithosphere.
