Summary Variable-metric minimization methods are introduced for use with optimal-control theory automatic reservoir history matching. more efficient and robust than the previously used methods, such as steepest-descent conjugate-gradient methods. in addition, variable-metric can be effectively parameter-inequality constraints. Two — Broyden/Fletcher/Goldfarb/Shanno (BFGS) method a self-scaling (SSVM) tested hypothetical two-phase history-matching problems. Estimated rock/fluid properties...

Summary Among the various properties important for simulating reservoir behavior, relative permeability curves may be most poorly determined by current methods. This paper presents a method obtaining improved estimates of curves. A Bayesian-type performance index is used to incorporate prior into an automatic history-matching algorithm. Estimates obtained with are consistent production and yet conform estimates.

Summary Multidimensional problem of the petrophysical properties inversion is ill posed and strongly affected by noise measurement errors. Stochastic simulation has become most popular approach to obtain seismic reservoir characterization. Based on stochastic simulation, we proposed a probabilistic method. Prior distribution variables, statistical rock-physics model, are used determine posterior properties. Statistical modeling gives relation between elastic variables. Conditional...

Jilake Reservoir TII in Tarim Basin, China, is characterized high clay content, great water sensitivity, small difference between formation pressure and dew point pressure, severe retrograde condensation pollution, output of gas reservoir serious blocking at the low-permeability position reservoir, imposing restrictions on productivity oil & wells. Sensitivity experiments showed that was strongly sensitive to water, weakly alkali stress. Dynamic core displacement results conventional...
