Green roofs offer a series of benefits to buildings and the urban environment. Their use in dry climates requires optimizing choice their components (i.e., vegetation, substrate drainage layer) for specific local climatic conditions, order minimize irrigations needs while preserving attributes roof. In this study, we calibrated validated an existing hydrological model—IHMORS—for simulation performance green roofs. Simulated results were compared experimental data obtained outdoor test...
The upwards flow of particles in an Upflow Bubbling Fluidized Bed (UBFB) is studied experimentally and modelled from pressure drop considerations energy loss equations. For Geldart group A powders tested, the upward solid flux, G s , tube can be expressed terms applied superficial gas velocity, free fall (terminal) velocity during their hindered settling, KU t exerted at base conveyor tube, length. model expression [Formula: see text] used for design purposes, with K, correction factor...
Achieving sustainability and resilience depends on the conciliation of environmental, social, economic issues integrated into a long-term perspective to ensure communities flourish. Many nations are transitioning toward both objectives, while at same time addressing structural concerns that have not allowed them look after environment in past. Chile is one these dealing with such challenges within particular administrative context, an increasing environmental awareness, set unique complex...
Abstract A mathematical model for the fluidized‐bed incineration process was developed using waste composed of wood, cardboard and polyvinyl chloride. It is based on heat mass balances gas held within five zones representing both bubbling bed freeboard including transfer with sand reacting particles char (pyrolysis residue). The mixture fraction concept assumption chemical equilibrium are used to compute temperature species concentration fields resulting from volatile combustion. These...
A theoretical and experimental investigation of a pilot scale solar fluidized bed receiver is presented. Large diameter alumina particles were used. Experimental data with the in temperature range 550° C to 915° (wall 740° C–1035° C) are compared simple model based on one parameter: mean front wall temperature. At 950° C, predicted efficiency 73 percent measured about 65 percent. In addition, unsteady behavior described by heat transfer model.
Abstract The project BESTFAÇADE, sponsored by the Energy Intelligent Europe programme of European Union, and led MCE-Anlagenbau, Austria, accumulated state art double skin façades (DSFs) in seven countries (Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Portugal Sweden). Twenty-eight different buildings all partner BESTFAÇADE have been analysed for aspects, types façade countries, DSFs climatic regions Europe, existing simulations measurements, thermal behaviour, indoor air quality, comfort,...
Abstract This study addresses the kinetics of heavy metal vaporization during fluidized bed thermal treatment coal. Both direct and inverse models were developed in transient conditions. The model predicts time course concentration gas from rate profile. was validated to predict metal's its outlet gas. A method derive kinetic law coal global experimental measurements is derived illustrated. first‐order fitted for mineral matrix a second‐order can be applied any matrix, whether it or organic...
Experimental results with a 2 kW solar furnace, in wide range of vaporization rates (0.1–4 g/h), under variable pressure and flow rate argon, are used numerical simulation to define key parameters for large scale synthesis fullerenes energy. The process is controlled by diffusion the temperature ranges 3000-3700 K 70-250 hPa respectively. In reactor, fullerene yield governed dilution carbon vapor argon gradient cooling zone. Criteria both suggested. Consequently, these data, combined...
Abstract
The theoretical and experimental study of the solid RTD in a perforated-plate 3-stage fluidized-bed (i.e. with distributors holes larger than particles diameter) is presented. Two models are proposed: 1-parameter model, which classical cascade-of-reactors model; 2-parameter established considering column as succession identical contactors, bypass back flow. First parametric done. Then, parameters values estimated both fitting curve. Both give very satisfying results, although one appears to...
