The pollution emitted by traffic activities and road maintenance is an area of great interest as contaminants can be transported to roadside sediments pose a risk environmental human health. In the present work, deposited in has been assessed sampling along highly traveled highway Barcelona surrounding area. available amounts heavy metals was determined applying different leaching tests calculating concentration enrichment ratio (CER) guideline values (ECG). To gain information on (HMs)...

Problem statement: Metal mining; together with mineral smelting and processing, have contaminated the environment surrounding mine areas throughout world exceeding natural background concentration. Approach: These processes introduce metal contaminants into through gaseous particulate emissions, waste liquids solid wastes. The principal objective of this study was to investigate soil water contamination in vicinity kettara abandoned located South Morocco. Results: High total concentrations...
Abstract Layered double hydroxides show intriguing physical and chemical properties arising by their intrinsic self-assembled stacking of molecular-thick 2D nanosheets, enhanced active surface area, hosting guest species intercalation anion exchanging capabilities. Here, we report on the unprecedented emerging intense ultraviolet photoluminescence in Zn/Al layered hydroxide high-aspect-ratio nanoplatelets, which discovered to be fully activated drying under vacuum condition thermal...
In this study, a commercial cube-shaped open-celled cellulose sponge adsorbent was modified by in-situ co-precipitation of superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPION) and used to remove As(V) from aqueous solutions. Fe K-edge X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) TEM identified maghemite as the main phase SPION with an average size 13 nm. Batch adsorption experiments at 800 mg/L showed 63% increase capacity when loading 2.6 wt.% mass fraction in cube-sponge. Experimental determination...
Damage control surgery in obstetrics is a surgical approach used emergency situations, involving serious complications or risks to the mother. This technique commonly cases of severe obstetric hemorrhage. The aim performance an initial laparotomy on hemodynamically unstable patient with goal rapidly controlling life-threatening injuries. It should be considered when despite fact ligation important arterial vessels has already been performed, bleeding persists and establish coagulopathy,...
Novel nanocomposite sorbents of superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPION) supported onto electrospun polyacrylonitrile nanofibers were synthesized by a simple and scalable method.
The mobility, availability and persistence of Heavy Metals (HMs), As, Cd, Cu, Ni, Pb Zn, in contaminated soils a former abandoned mining area were evaluated by means sequential extraction scheme (SES) applying multivariate statistical analysis to the obtained data. Chemical partitioning HMs each sample was determined four fractions (acid-soluble, reducible, oxidable residual) following Standard Measurements Testing (SM&T) SES, formerly BCR-SES. Statistical evaluation results pattern...
The seroprevalence of trypanosomiasis and the prevalence current trypanosome infection in water buffaloes from most important livestock areas Venezuela were evaluated by IFAT microhaematocrit centrifugation technique, respectively. usefulness a PCR-based assay for identifying species was also evaluated. Of 644 animals investigated, 40 (6.2%) found infected with trypanosomes blood centrifugation, 196 (30.4%) positive anti-trypanosome antibodies, IFAT. results indicated that 92.5% infections...
summary: Protoplasts of nutritionally complementary strains Cephalosporium acremonium were fused and plated onto media which supressed the growth both parents. The regenerating colonies used for genetic analysis found to be two types, stable haploid recombinants unstable heterozygotes (aneuploids and/or diploids). Analysis these provided evidence eight linkage groups a relatively high rate mitotic crossing-over. gene order three markers on one group was also determined.
Accelerated methods for partitioning of Cd, Cr, Cu, Ni, Pb and Zn, such as the use single ultrasonic extractions are assessed in terms readsorption compared with three-stage sequential extraction scheme (SES) Standards Measurements Testing Programme (SM&T).The standard addition approach was employed characterising artefact by applying above fractionation over different certified reference materials (CRMs), BCR 701, 601 (lake sediments), 141R soil.Ultrasonic provided higher readsorption,...
Abstract The feasibility of three commercial extractants (DEHPA, Cyanex 272, and Ionquest 290) has been assessed for the recovery Zn from an acidic mine effluent. Less than 5 min are required to reach equilibrium studied extractants. Regarding selectivity, DEHPA extracted efficiently Zn, Ca, Mn, Al, although Al remained in solvent extract after stripping, hindering reuse. Neither 290 nor 272 Cu, or Ca significantly. is 5–10% higher 272. In addition, 20%(v/v) produces recoveries 40%(v/v)...
