Background: Abnormal tibiofemoral contact stress and aberrant kinematics may influence the progression of osteoarthritis in anterior cruciate ligament (ACL)–deficient ACL-reconstructed knee. However, relationships between after ACL reconstruction are poorly understood. Therefore, we posed following research questions: (1) How do deficiency affect joint? (2) What kinematic differences associated with abnormal reconstruction? Hypothesis: Center-center will not restore knee stress. Correlations...
Abstract We present detailed evolutionary calculations spanning 4.6 × 109 yr for a model representing main-belt comet 133P/Elst-Pizarro, considering different initial compositions: mixtures of ices and dust. find that only crystalline H2O ice may survive in the interior nucleus, be found at depths ranging from ∼50 to 150 m. Other volatiles will completely lost. further show, by means fully three-dimensional calculations, if is exposed, say as result collision, resulting activity similar...
Abstract The composition of Jupiter and the primordial distribution heavy elements are determined by its formation history. As a result, in order to constrain internal structure Jupiter, growth core deposition settling accreted planetesimals must be followed detail. In this paper we determine proto-Jupiter mass core. We find that while outer envelope is typically convective has homogeneous composition, innermost regions have compositional gradients. addition, existence leads much higher...
Purpose: To evaluate terpinen-4-ol lid scrubs (Cliradex) with Microblepharoexfoliation (MBE) (BlephEx) in the treatment of Demodex blepharitis. Methods: An Institutional Review Board (IRB) approved randomized prospective double-masked trial 50 patients positive All subjects were given an in-office MBE and to masked (terpinen-4-ol or sham) twice daily for 1 month. then returned additional received open-label Outcomes: levels, Ocular Surface Disease Index, tear osmolarity, MMP-9, Schirmer...
Context. Thermal evolution models have been developed over the years to investigate of thermal properties based on transfer heat fluxes or transport gas through a porous matrix, among others. Applications such trans-Neptunian objects (TNOs) and Centaurs has shown that these bodies could be strongly differentiated from point view chemistry (i.e. loss most volatile ices), as well physics (e.g. melting water ice), resulting in stratified internal structures with cores potential pristine...
Purpose: To assess the effect of vectored thermal pulsation treatment (VTP) on visible meibomian gland structure (VGS) in patients with dysfunction (MGD). Setting: Private group practice (A.T.E.). Design: Retrospective, single-blinded cohort study. Methods: Visible was evaluated at baseline and 1-year (30 patients, 48 eyes) control (13 22 groups. Meibography images were captured using dynamic imaging. Images assessed a novel morphometric analysis technique analyzed for change area VGS...
Modelling the evolution of comets is a complex task aiming at providing constraints on physical processes and internal properties that are inaccessible to observations, although they could potentially bring key elements our understanding origins these primitive objects. This field has made tremendous step forward in post-Giotto area, owing detailed spaceand ground-based as well laboratory simulations comet nuclei. In this paper, we review studies believe significant for interpreting...
Purpose: To evaluate long-term visual and astigmatic outcomes of sequential corneal crosslinking (CXL) followed by topography-guided photorefractive keratectomy (PRK). Setting: Single-practice outpatient setting. Design: Retrospective case review. Methods: This is a single-surgeon retrospective review eyes with keratoconus undergoing CXL then PRK. Change in uncorrected distance acuity (UDVA), corrected (CDVA), topographic, refractive, keratometric astigmatism was analyzed using power vector...
Purpose: To compare the coaxial light intensity required during cataract surgery and rate of postoperative visual recovery, with surgical visualization achieved a traditional analog operating microscope compared 3D digital system. Setting: Weill Cornell Medical Center, New York Presbyterian Hospital, York, York. Design: Retrospective, consecutive, single-surgeon series. Methods: Patients undergoing femtosecond laser–assisted were retrospectively grouped into either: (1) using binoculars...
Purpose: To evaluate the impact of TearCare (TC) treatment on clinical, quality life, and functional visual outcome metrics in patients with dry eye disease (DED) meibomian gland (MGD). Methods: This is a prospective, single-center clinical trial. Adults MGD DED diagnosis tear break-up time (TBUT) < 10 seconds were included. All subjects had at least 20/40 vision no surgery or new for within 60 days prior to enrollment. one baseline visit undergoing TC follow-up 1 month after TC. At each...
To evaluate a sequential treatment algorithm for visual and keratometric improvement in keratoconus patients after corneal crosslinking (CXL) followed by topography-guided photorefractive keratectomy (PRK).Ophthalmic Consultants of Long Island, Garden City, New York, USA.Retrospective case series. This study reviewed with who had CXL custom PRK between April 2016 December 2016. The following data were collected at baseline, the time CXL, 3 months 6 PRK: uncorrected (UDVA) corrected (CDVA)...

To quantify features of musculoskeletal (MSK) complaints among US ophthalmologists and analyze factors related to symptom severity.Cornea, glaucoma, retina, comprehensive practitioners were invited complete a web-based survey via email. Data on demographics, practice procedural volumes, wellness activities, job stress, MSK health, the Total Disability Index (TDI), ergonomics collected. Significance testing was performed evaluate TDI score.Of 245 contacted, 58.8% (n = 144) responded at least...
Purpose: Dry eye disease is a multifactorial with numerous well-documented risk factors. However, to date, sleep position has not been associated this condition. After observing patients in our practice, we believe that the some cases may significantly affect dry and meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD). Methods: This single-centered, cross-sectional, noninterventional, institutional review board–approved, single-masked, nonrandomized study of 100 whose complaints were related control group 25...
Conjunctival hemangioma over the age of 60 is rare, with few cases reported in literature. We present a unique case conjunctival capillary hemangioma, adding to sparse literature this uncommon vascular tumor. Here, we an interesting spontaneous development tumor at 68, without associated systemic disease process or cutaneous manifestations.
The purpose of this study was to compare visual outcomes, surgical time, and perioperative complications after intracameral use either phenylephrine/ketorolac (P/K) or epinephrine (Epi) during cataract surgery. This a single-center, retrospective case review patients undergoing surgery from August November 2015. Of the 641 eyes 389 who underwent surgery, 260 were administered phenylephrine 1.0%/ketorolac 0.3% 381 received Epi in irrigation solution intraoperatively. All topical nonsteroidal...
Purpose: To compare the wound integrity of femtosecond laser–assisted 110-degree reverse side-cut clear corneal incisions (CCIs) with 70-degree forward and manual CCIs in patients having cataract surgery. Setting: Island Eye Surgicenter, Carle Place, New York, USA. Design: Prospective case series. Methods: Patients surgery were randomized into 3 treatment groups as follows: Group A had CCIs, B C CCIs. At conclusion surgery, CCI was measured by raising intraocular pressure (IOP) until began...
