Abstract Purpose: Treatment approaches using Hsp90 inhibitors at their maximum tolerated doses (MTDs) have not produced selective tumor toxicity. Inhibition of activity causes degradation client proteins including those involved in recognizing and repairing DNA lesions. We hypothesized that if repair were degraded by concentrations an inhibitor below required to cause nonspecific cytotoxicity, significant tumor-selective radiosensitization might be achieved. Experimental Design: Tandem mass...
Patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) are taking a more prominent role in orthopedics as health care seeks to define treatment outcomes. The visual analog scale (VAS) is considered reliable measure of acute pain. A previous study found that operative candidates' VAS pain score was significantly higher when reported the surgeon compared nurse. This study's aim examine whether this phenomenon occurs patients do not undergo an procedure. We hypothesized patients' scores vs nurse would be...
In order to maintain nonweightbearing restrictions of the lower extremity, an assistive device must be utilized. Currently most devices require restricted limb held in a static position while contralateral extremity provides forward propulsion. Atrophy and disuse conditions ensue rapidly, slowing healing prolonging recovery. A hands-free single crutch (HFSC) utilizes both extremities, potentially reducing atrophy. The purpose this study was examine electromyographic (EMG) differences between...
Foot and ankle injuries frequently require a period of nonweightbearing, resulting in muscle atrophy. Our previous study compared hands-free single crutch (HFSC) to standard axillary crutches found increased recruitment intensity while using the HFSC. Knee scooters are another commonly prescribed nonweightbearing device. The purpose this is examine electromyographic (EMG) differences between an HFSC knee scooter, conjunction with device preference perceived exertion.
Metatarsal fractures are one of the most common injuries foot, accounting for approximately 5% to 6% all confronted in outpatient setting 1 . Approximately 45% 70% these involve fifth metatarsal, which have been described using a 3 zonal approach 1993 by Lawrence and Botte 2 Zone difficult manage given their retrograde vascular supply, leading higher rates nonunion 1,3 Jones (zone 2) primarily treated surgically, with main methods being intramedullary screw fixation plate Surgical management...

Talus fractures, although rare, can lead to devastating complications. The most common of which is posttraumatic osteoarthritis involving the subtalar and tibiotalar joints be a result malunion, nonunion, avascular necrosis. timing method fixation these injuries has been controversial. Most experts recommend dual incision approach facilitate anatomic reduction. We present an alternative technique for talus fracture management that may reduce soft-tissue stripping further vascular compromise...
