Zelentsoviella n. gen. is erected based on the male of Z. jugorica sp. from Yugorsky Peninsula in Russian Arctic. The genus can be separated other Orthocladiinae genera basis combination following characters: bare eyes and wings; palp consists 4 segments; wing with obtuse anal lobe; R4+5 ending distal to end M3+4; squama 2 setae; acrostichals mid-scutum; hind tibial comb partially reduced 6 weak pulvilli reduced; virga absent; long part gonostylus smoothly bent gradually narrows apex,...
Northwestern Russia remains the only region in Northern Eurasia where no regional chironomid-based inference model for quantitative palaeoclimatic reconstructions has been developed. Using palaeolimnological methods, we investigated subfossil chironomid surface sediments from a data set of 98 lakes nine subregions European part Russia. We identified 143 taxa lakes. Multivariate statistical analyses and environmental demonstrated that mean July air temperature (T July), distance tree line,...
The first data on the chironomids fauna of Franz Josef Land archipelago belong to M. Goetghebuer (1933). He noted 16 adults males Hydrobaenus conformis (Holmgren, 1869). In present study, three new species (Diamesa (Diamesa) arctica (Boheman, 1865), Limnophyes pumilio 1869), Tokunagaia rectangularis (Goetghebuer, 1940)) and one subfamily (Diamesinae) are recorded in bringing chironomid this a total seven from two subfamilies.
According to current data, the caddisfly fauna of Urals and neighboring territories consists 169 species from 18 families. There are 64 Trichoptera listed in Polar Yamal Peninsula, 80 recorded Northern Urals, inhabit Middle 83 Southern Urals. The highest diversity is observed family Limnephilidae (66 species). Families Leptoceridae (27 species), Hydroptilidae (19 species) Phryganeidae (13 also characterized by high richness.
Flight period results of chironomid species from the Middle Urals are grouped into eight categories. Six different peaks flight activity during year established, namely: early-spring, late-spring, July, late-summer, early-autumn and winter. The periods chironomids southern Swedish lakes compared.doi: 10.5324/fn.v31i0.1371.Published online: 17 October 2012.

The knowledge on diversity of freshwater molluscs in the Arctic islands Russian Federation remains incomplete. present study provides first record North Palaearctic species Gyraulus cf. acronicus (Férussac, 1807) Novaya Zemlya Archipelago. It is also finding gastropods archipelago and northernmost for Region. questions still remain: whether our belongs to a recent or subfossil fossil population, how could colonize islands. Several possibilities dispersal are discussed: former land-bridge...
Abstract Two new localities for Smittia brevipennis from the Franz-Josef Land Archipelago and Vize Island, Russian Arctic, are reported. A description of larvae female imago is given. Zero rate mutations in gene COI found specimens Canada, Alaska, Svalbard, Island unique Chironomids inhabiting such extensive range indicates a relatively recent rapid colonization high-Arctic areas by . Possible routes means historical dispersal across circumpolar this unusual brachypterous parthenogenetic...
Nymphomyiidae from the Russian Far East and bordering territories are revised, including data on taxonomy, redescriptions, results of DNA barcoding. Nymphomyia orientalis sp. nov. with two subspecies N subsp. N. makcha described information biology, ecology distribution presented. Key species for adult males females world is provided. Three delimitation approaches (ASAP, mPTP, GMYC) using mitochondrial gene cytochrome c oxidase I (COI) confirm validity taxa as well available nymphomyiids in...
Using adult males, Makarchenkoia samoyedica gen. nov. et sp. from Yugorsky, Yamal and Taimyr Peninsulas of Arctic region are described figured. New genus is separated other Orthocladiinae genera on the basis combination following characters: eyes bare, reniform, without dorsomedial extension, apex antenna apical or subapical seta, squama setae, R4+5 ending distal to end M3+4, acrostichals begin at border with antepronotum, hooked, single-row near pronotum, double-row closer middle mesonotum,...
Chironomids of the Diamesinae subfamily from Russian Arctic were studied using both morphological characters and molecular data. Adult males Diamesa urvantsevi sp. nov., D. amplexivirilia Hansen, Arctodiamesa appendiculata (Lundström) Severnaya Zemlya Archipelago arctica (Boheman), Pseudokiefferiella Vaigach Island described, redescribed, annotated figured. A reference 658 bp barcode sequence a fragment mitochondrial gene cytochrome oxidase I (COI) was used as tool for species delimitation....
Hydrobaenus birulyai Krasheninnikov, sp. n. is described based on adult males from Yugorsky Peninsula. The new species similar to H. tumidistylus Sæther, 1976 but differs latter by long, wide at apex and rounded anal point without microtrichia, present of 16 weak acrostichals begin some distance antepronotum, massive inferior volsella, gonostylus with large median lobe located medially.
The male adult of Chaetocladius (Chaetocladius) spiridonovi sp. nov. is described and diagnosed based on morphological phylogenetic data. new species characterized by the following features: anal point very long, almost reaching apex gonocoxite, presence a dorsal hump at base; inferior volsella sub-rectangular to large lobe shaped, inner caudal margin with undulation; virga composed 2 long spines; gonostylus massively globular rounded posterior margin. Comparison COI that other known shows...
