Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) are a group of lifelong disabilities that affect people's communication and understanding social cues. The state the art witnesses how technology, in particular robotics, may offer promising tools to strengthen research therapy ASD. This work represents first attempt use machine-learning strategies during robot-ASD children interactions, terms facial expression imitation, making possible an objective evaluation children's behaviours then giving possibility...

Abstract The automatic monitoring and assessment of the engagement level learners in distance education may help understanding problems providing personalized support during learning process. This article presents a research aiming to investigate how student can be assessed from facial behavior proposes model based on Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) networks predict action units, gaze, head poses. dataset used learn is one EmotiW 2019 challenge datasets. In order test its performance contexts,...

Several studies suggest that robots can play a relevant role to address Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This paper presents humanoid social robot-assisted behavioral system based on therapeutic multilevel treatment protocol customized improve eye contact, joint attention, symbolic play, and basic emotion recognition. In the system, robot acts as mediator, trying elicit specific behaviors in child, taking into account his/her multimodal signals. Statistical differences contact facial...

This paper presents a rehabilitation system based on customizable exergame protocol to prevent falls in the elderly population. The is depth sensors and exergames. experiments carried out with several seniors, day care center, make it possible evaluate usability efficiency of system. outcomes highlight user-friendliness, very good developed significant enhancement maintaining physical activity. performance postural response improved by an average 80%.

Abstract The attention towards robot-assisted therapies (RAT) had grown steadily in recent years particularly for patients with dementia. However, rehabilitation practice using humanoid robots individuals Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) is still a novel method which the adherence mechanisms, indications and outcomes remain unclear. An effective computing represents wide range of technological opportunities employment emotions to improve human-computer interaction. Therefore, present study...

Social robots are being used successfully as educational technologies, playing roles of tutors and therapeutic assistants. In our research, we wish to explore how social can be tutor a second language unaccompanied minor migrants support their integration in new culture. These young among those most at risk the area child youth welfare. this paper, focus on particular aspect teaching that concerns culture-related gestures important for supporting inclusion these children. Abstract Automated behavior analysis are promising tools to overcome current assessment limitations in psychiatry. At 9 months of age, we recorded 32 infants with West syndrome (WS) and 19 typically developing (TD) controls during a standardized mother–infant interaction. We computed infant hand movements (HM), speech turn taking both partners (vocalization, pause, silences, overlap) motherese. Then, assessed whether multimodal social signals interactional synchrony at could predict outcomes...

The main feature of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs) is the difficulty in communicating with others and struggling to maintain a functional contact environment. This work presents implementation Graphical User Interface (GUI) for Digital PECS Therapy that will enable ASD population overcome their impairments. GUI was integrated depth sensor, recognize hand gestures autistic subjects, monitor, where specific tools have been displayed, humanoid robot (Aldebaran Robotics NAO), used as medium...

This paper describes the first prototype of a gaze-based system designed for providing interactively information about dresses shown, on physical mannequins, in shop window. Using user may look at available sizes, colors, price and similar products. Due to nature such system, interaction must be touchless natural. The developed solution uses Microsoft Kinect 2 as device achieve natural pointing approach. Results show that users evaluate positively approach felt engaged during interaction.
