The current work experimentally studies the complex interaction between underwater explosion (UNDEX) bubbles and a free surface. We aim to reveal dependence of associated physics on key factor, namely, dimensionless detonation depth γ (scaled by maximum equivalent bubble radius). Four typical behavior patterns are identified with respective range γ: (i) bursting at surface, (ii) jetting downward, (iii) neutral collapse bubble, (iv) quasi-free-field motion. By comparison jet direction...

This paper presents an experimental study focused on the annular secondary cavitation caused by interaction between a high-voltage spark bubble and cylinder. A 2000 V underwater electric discharge was used to create bubble, which reached maximum diameter of approximately 31 mm. High-speed photography employed capture behavior induced bubbles. The formation evolution bubbles near cylinder's edge were captured analyzed. classified morphology into three different types based various distances...

Pressure waves emitted from the air gun contain many frequencies, among which low-frequency are desirable for exploration and imaging, while high-frequency need to be suppressed as they harmful marine species. The originate fast oscillations of flow during release air, such impingement gas jet into liquid, expansion bubble, interaction between body bubble. However, those dynamic adjustable by special design guns. To analyze underlying relations, we present a numerical study with compressible...

The dynamics of an oscillating bubble near a liquid–liquid interface is complex multiphase flow problem due to the highly nonlinear interaction, such as fragmentation and tearing. When one liquid mediums non-Newtonian, its constitution would significantly influence both motion evolution. In this study, numerical model established based on Eulerian finite element method with non-Newtonian fluid described by Herschel–Bulkley model. validated comparing experimental results for non-spherical...

A machine learning method is proposed to predict the collapse patterns and flow field state of underwater explosion bubbles subjected vertical sidewall free surface, which can overcome limitations high costs traditional experimental tests long computation times numerical simulations. The dataset was obtained by boundary element method, including cases bubble with different buoyancy parameters at distances from surface sidewall. Due strong geometric nonlinearity influenced boundary, three...

How to effectively reduce the high-frequency output caused by excessively steep initial peak slope and enhance low-frequency generated bubble oscillation has become present research interest in seismic source design. The most effective way improve content of a is increase its chamber volume. However, size air-gun bubbles large-volume sources increased several hundred times compared traditional high-pressure air guns, which made migration phenomenon no longer negligible. previous dynamics...

After accounting for a contact resistance between carbon nanotube (CNT) and substrate, the local electric filed of top CNT were calculated by combining an improved floated sphere model Fowler-Nordheim theory understand effect on field emission from CNT. It is found that current limited saturation nonlinear characteristics plots are produced in region high field. The origin can be attributed to remarkably debases as compared without resistance.

During the landing and recycling on sea surface of a spacecraft or rocket, concave structure may impacts water surface. In present paper, we experimentally numerically analyze multiphase flows transient impact load during oblique entry concave-nose projectile. The projectiles used in experiments are consist main body that embbed an acceleration measurement system, transparent concave-nose. Firstly, free evolutions cavity dynamics given for projectile, which shows significant changes compared...
