Status epilepticus (SE) is defined as ongoing seizures lasting longer than five minutes or multiple without recovery. Benzodiazepines (BZDs) are first-line agents for the management of SE. Our objective was to evaluate BZD dosing in SE patients and its effects on clinical/electrographic outcomes. A retrospective analysis conducted from a prospective database admitted university-based neurocritical care unit. The initial presentation progression refractory (RSE) non-convulsive (NCSE) with...

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has been associated with Acute Ischemic Stroke (AIS). Here, we characterize our institutional experience management of COVID-19 and AIS. Baseline demographics, clinical, imaging, outcomes data were determined in patients AIS presenting within March 2020 to October 2020, November August 2021, based on hospitalization volume. Of 2512 patients, 35 (1.39%, mean age 63.3 years, 54% women) had recognition was frequently delayed after symptoms (median 19.5 days)....

We present a teenage boy with recent onset of seizures, who was erroneously treated large dose an antiseizure medication as result drug mix-up. The ensuing toxicity caused vertical gaze palsy, unusual manifestation related to overdose the agent. Timely recognition error and discontinuation resulted in complete recovery baseline.

Cerebral infections have been reported after endovascular interventions such as embolization and coiling. Such complications are extremely rare only one other case has in a patient who underwent an therapy for ischemic stroke. We report 32-year-old woman, presented to our hospital with headaches lasting four weeks intervention stroke via mechanical thrombectomy. Further investigations revealed cerebral abscess the area of infarct. She was effectively treated antibiotics combination...

Objective: To develop and validate the Transformer-based Risk assessment survival model (TRisk), a novel deep learning model, for prediction of 10-year risk cardiovascular disease (CVD) in both general population individuals with diabetes. Design: Prospective open cohort study design. Setting: Primary secondary care England as provided by Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD) Gold Participants: An 3 million adults aged 25 to 84 years was identified using linked primary electronic health...

Objective: We present two cases where Perampanel was used to wean patients in non-convulsive SE (NCSE) from anesthetic drugs. Background: Prolonged status epilepticus (SE) causes internalization of inhibitory gamma-amino-butyric-acid (GABA) receptors. is the first orally-active noncompetitive antagonist excitatory AMPA (α-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxazolepropionic-acid) receptor, a subtype glutamate receptor and approved for focal seizures with or without secondary generalization....
