Diarrhea in piglets directly affects commercial swine production. The disease results from the interaction of pathogens with host immune system and is also affected by management procedures. Several pathogenic agents such as Campylobacter spp., Clostridium perfringens, Escherichia coli, Salmonella group A rotavirus (RV-A), coronaviruses (transmissible gastroenteritis virus; porcine epidemic diarrhea virus), well nematode protozoan parasites, can be associated cases. All bacterial, viral,...
Group A rotaviruses (RVAs) are leading causes of viral diarrhea in children and the young many animal species, particularly swine. In current study, porcine RVAs were found fecal specimens from symptomatic piglets on 4 farms Brazil during years 2012-2013. Using RT-PCR, Sanger nucleotide sequencing, phylogenetic analyses, whole genomes 12 Brazilian RVA strains analyzed. Specifically, full-length open reading frame (ORF) sequences determined for NSP2-, NSP3-, VP6-coding genes, partial ORF...
This study determined the group A rotavirus occurrence in pig farms from 7 different cities São Paulo State, Brazil. Out of 143 samples, 70 tested positive. Sequence analyses 37 strains indicated that had G3, G5, G9, and P[6], P[13]/P[22]-like, P[23] genotypes.
Felid herpesvirus 1 is an important respiratory pathogen of domestic cats. This report presents the first case severe nonsuppurative meningoencephalitis caused by this virus in a cat.
This paper expands on a previous report about coronaviruses in quail. After surveillance carried out 2009 and 2010, some farmers started vaccinating quail with the Massachusetts avian infectious bronchitis virus serotype. The samples for this study were collected 2013 from São Paulo state southeastern Brazil. Pools of trachea, lungs, reproductive tract, kidneys, enteric contents laying hens kept same farms quail-only as well both healthy birds those showing bronchitis–like symptoms sampled...
Feline infectious peritonitis virus (FIPV) is highly virulent and responsible for the fatal disease feline (FIP), whereas enteric coronavirus (FECV) widespread among population typically causes asymptomatic infections. Some candidates genetic markers capable of differentiating these two pathotypes a unique (feline coronavirus) have been proposed by several studies. In present survey, in order to search that can differentiate FECV FIPV, clones 3a–c, E, M genes were sequenced from samples...
The aim of this study was to verify the capacity IBDV strains, Lukert, F52/70 and very virulent Brazilian genotype (G11) infect replicate on cell culture maintained without serum or protein supplementation. BHK21 CER cells were directed adapted growth under absence and/or fetal bovine with addition 5 µg mL-1 insulin-like factor I (IGF-I). RPMI 1640 medium plus IGF-I able support both lines at a maximum 3,3×106 3,4×106 for BHK21, respectively. comparison between conventional MEM (FBS) curves...
