The Λ (Λ[over ¯]) hyperon polarization along the beam direction has been measured in Au+Au collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=200 GeV, for first time heavy-ion collisions. dependence on hyperons' emission angle relative to elliptic flow plane exhibits a second harmonic sine modulation, indicating quadrupole pattern of vorticity component direction, expected due flow. is found increase more peripheral collisions, and shows no strong transverse momentum (p_{T}) p_{T} greater than 1 GeV/c. magnitude...
Non-monotonic variation with collision energy ($\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}}$) of the moments net-baryon number distribution in heavy-ion collisions, related to correlation length and susceptibilities system, is suggested as a signature for Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) critical point. We report first evidence non-monotonic kurtosis times variance net-proton (proxy number) function \rootsnn 3.1$\sigma$ significance, head-on (central) gold-on-gold (Au+Au) collisions measured using STAR detector at RHIC....
The Breit-Wheeler process which produces matter and anti-matter from photon collisions is investigated experimentally through the observation of 6085 exclusive electron-positron pairs in ultra-peripheral Au+Au at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=200$ GeV. measurements reveal a large fourth-order angular modulation $\cos{4\Delta\phi}=(16.8\pm2.5)\%$ smooth invariant mass distribution absent vector mesons ($\phi$, $\omega$ $\rho$) experimental limit $\le 0.2\%$ observed yields. differential cross section as...
We report the beam energy and collision centrality dependence of fifth sixth order cumulants (C5, C6) factorial (κ5, κ6) net-proton proton number distributions, from center-of-mass (√sNN) 3 GeV to 200 Au+Au collisions at RHIC. Cumulant ratios (taken as proxy for net-baryon) distributions generally follow hierarchy expected QCD thermodynamics, except case GeV. The measured values C6/C2 0%–40% show progressively negative trend with decreasing energy, while it is positive lowest studied. These...
We report a measurement of exclusive J/ψ and ψ(2s) photoproduction in Au+Au ultraperipheral collisions at sNN=200 GeV using the STAR detector. For first time, (i) midrapidity Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collider has been experimentally measured; (ii) nuclear suppression factors are measured for both coherent incoherent production. At average photon-nucleon center-of-mass energy 25.0 GeV, cross sections Au nuclei found to be 71±10% 36±7%, respectively, that free protons. The stronger observed...
The STAR Collaboration at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider reports first measurement of inclusive jet production in peripheral and central Au+Au collisions $\sqrt{{s}_{NN}}=200$ GeV. Jets are reconstructed with anti-${k}_{T}$ algorithm using charged tracks pseudorapidity $|\ensuremath{\eta}|<1.0$ transverse momentum $0.2<{p}_{T,\mathrm{jet}}^{\mathrm{ch}}<30$ $\mathrm{GeV}/c$, resolution parameter $R=0.2$, 0.3, 0.4. large background yield uncorrelated signal is observed to be dominated by...
We report on measurements of sequential ϒ suppression in Au+Au collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=200 GeV with the STAR detector Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) through both dielectron and dimuon decay channels. In relativistic heavy-ion collisions, a global spin polarization, $P_\mathrm{H}$, of $\Lambda$ and $\bar{\Lambda}$ hyperons along the direction system angular momentum was discovered measured across broad range collision energies demonstrated trend increasing $P_\mathrm{H}$ with decreasing $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}}$. A splitting between polarization may be possible due to their different magnetic moments in late-stage field sustained by quark-gluon plasma which is formed collision. The results...
We report the first measurements of a complete second-order cumulant matrix net-charge, net-proton, and net-kaon multiplicity distributions for phase beam energy scan program at Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. This includes centrality and, time, pseudorapidity window dependence both diagonal off-diagonal cumulants in $\mathrm{Au}+\mathrm{Au}$ collisions $\sqrt{{s}_{NN}}$= 7.7--200 GeV. Within available acceptance $|\ensuremath{\eta}|<0.5$, grow linearly with window. Relative to...
We report on the first measurements of J/$\psi$ production at very low transverse momentum ($p_{T} <$ 0.2 GeV/c) in hadronic Au+Au collisions $\sqrt{s_{\rm{NN}}} =$ 200 GeV and U+U 193 GeV. Remarkably, inferred nuclear modification factor mid-rapidity (U+U) reaches about 24 (52) for $p_{T} 0.05 GeV/c 60-80$\%$ collision centrality class. This noteworthy enhancement cannot be explained by accompanied cold hot medium effects. In addition, $dN/dt$ distribution $p_{T}$ range is presented time....
Quark interactions with topological gluon configurations can induce chirality imbalance and local parity violation in quantum chromodynamics. This lead to electric charge separation along the strong magnetic field relativistic heavy-ion collisions -- chiral effect (CME). We report measurements by STAR collaboration of a CME-sensitive observable $p$+Au $d$+Au at 200 GeV, where CME is not expected, using charge-dependent pair correlations relative third particle. observe similar those measured...
In this letter, measurements of the shared momentum fraction (zg) and groomed jet radius (Rg), as defined in SoftDrop algorithm, are reported p+p collisions at s=200 GeV collected by STAR experiment. These substructure observables differentially measured for jets varying resolution parameters from R=0.2−0.6 transverse range 15<pT,jet<60 GeV/c. studies show that, pT,jet accessible with increasing parameter momentum, zg distribution asymptotically converges to DGLAP splitting kernel a quark...

A decisive experimental test of the Chiral Magnetic Effect (CME) is considered one major scientific goals at Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collider (RHIC) towards understanding nontrivial topological fluctuations Quantum Chromodynamics vacuum. In heavy-ion collisions, CME expected to result in a charge separation phenomenon across reaction plane, whose strength could be strongly energy dependent. For all energies studied, a significant excess yield dielectrons is observed low-mass region ($0.40<{M}_{ee}<0.75 \mathrm{MeV}/{c}^{2}$) compared to hadronic cocktail simulations freeze-out. Models that include an in-medium...
Various models of the QCD phase diagram favor a first-order transition to quark-gluon plasma, and therefore critical endpoint which could manifest itself in measurable fluctuations correlations. The authors report measurements moments net proton multiplicity (cumulants) correlation functions from RHIC beam energy scan.
