Using data collected at the Pierre Auger Observatory during past 3.7 years, we demonstrated a correlation between arrival directions of cosmic rays with energy above 6 × 10 19 electron volts and positions active galactic nuclei (AGN) lying within ∼75 megaparsecs. We rejected hypothesis an isotropic distribution these least 99% confidence level from prescribed priori test. The observed is compatible that highest-energy particles originate nearby extragalactic sources whose flux has not been...

During the shutdown of CERN Large Hadron Collider in 2013-2014, an additional pixel layer was installed between existing Pixel detector ATLAS experiment and a new, smaller radius beam pipe. The motivation for this new layer, Insertable B-Layer (IBL), to maintain or improve robustness performance tracking system, given higher instantaneous integrated luminosities realised following shutdown. Because extreme radiation collision rate environment, several radiation-tolerant sensor electronic...

The surface detector array of the Pierre Auger Observatory is sensitive to Earth-skimming tau neutrinos that interact in Earth's crust. Tau leptons from ${\ensuremath{\nu}}_{\ensuremath{\tau}}$ charged-current interactions can emerge and decay atmosphere produce a nearly horizontal shower with significant electromagnetic component. data collected between 1 January 2004 31 August 2007 are used place an upper limit on diffuse flux at EeV energies. Assuming...

We combine searches by the CDF and D0 Collaborations for a Higgs boson decaying to ${W}^{+}{W}^{\ensuremath{-}}$. The data correspond an integrated total luminosity of 4.8 (CDF) 5.4 (D0) ${\mathrm{fb}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ $p\overline{p}$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=1.96\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{TeV}$ Fermilab Tevatron collider. No excess is observed above background expectation, resulting limits on production exclude standard model in mass range 162--166 GeV 95% C.L.

Data collected at the Pierre Auger Observatory are used to establish an upper limit on diffuse flux of tau neutrinos in cosmic radiation. Earth-skimming ${\ensuremath{\nu}}_{\ensuremath{\tau}}$ may interact Earth's crust and produce a $\ensuremath{\tau}$ lepton by means charged-current interactions. The emerge from Earth decay atmosphere nearly horizontal shower with typical signature, persistent electromagnetic component even very large atmospheric depths. search procedure select events...

We report the observation of electroweak single top quark production in $3.2\text{ }\text{ }{\mathrm{fb}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ $p\overline{p}$ collision data collected by Collider Detector at Fermilab $\sqrt{s}=1.96\text{ }\mathrm{TeV}$. We present a measurement of the cross section for W-boson production in association with jets p¯p collisions at √s=1.96 TeV. The analysis uses data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity 320 pb−1 collected CDF II detector. W bosons are identified their electron decay channel and reconstructed using cone algorithm. For each W+≥n−jet (n=1−4) we measure differential dσ(p¯p→W+≥n−jet)/dEnth−jetT×B(W→eν) respect transverse energy ET nth-highest jet above 20 GeV, total...

We have measured the differential cross section for inclusive production of psi(2S) mesons decaying to mu^{+} mu^{-1} that were produced in prompt or B-decay processes from ppbar collisions at 1.96 TeV. These measurements been made using a data set an integrated luminosity 1.1 fb^{-1} collected by CDF II detector Fermilab. For events with transverse momentum p_{T} (psi(2S)) > 2 GeV/c and rapidity |y(psi(2S))| < 0.6 we measure sigma(ppbar -> psi(2S)X) Br(psi(2S) mu^{-}) be 3.29 +-...
