The expression 'you need to know conserve' is a well-known cliche among biologists. Documenting the richness of group organisms first step towards understanding biodiversity and preparing efficient conservation plans. In this context, many efforts have been made quantify number species on Earth estimate still unknown science. A few countries complete integrated databases estimating approximate recorded for their territory, particularly in Global South. Brazil, country continental dimensions,...

The status of the Megalobulimus arapotiensis is reassessed. A conchological comparison this species and M. elongatus reveals no significant differences. morphology falls within range variability known in elongatus. These similarities suggest that should be treated as a junior synonym All occurrences both taxa are mapped.

The superfamily Orthalicoidea comprises approximately 2,000 species of terrestrial gastropods, mostly concentrated in the Neotropics but also present southern Africa and Oceania. We provide a multi-marker molecular phylogeny this superfamily, reassessing its family- genus-level classification. exclude two families from group, Odontostomidae Vidaliellidae, transferring them to Rhytidoidea based on their phylogenetic relationships as recovered herein. Amphidoxa Albers, 1850 is a genus of minute charopid land snails known primarily from Chile. However, two species southern Brazil have been allocated to it, flammulata Ihering, 1922 and inexpectata 1922. Curiously, after their original description, these were never again mentioned in the literature. They recently “rediscovered” during work produce latest checklist terrestrial gastropods classification needs be reassessed. Herein, we reclassify those as Lilloiconcha (Ihering, 1922) comb. nov....

An up-to-date list of exclusively cave-dwelling gastropod species recorded in Brazil is presented including updated taxonomy, detailed geographic information, and illustration types. The includes 18 cave-exclusive (troglobitic) gastropods encompassing 15 land three freshwater species, with the status further pending additional studies. Their unusual morphology diversity are discussed, as well their conservation prospects current Brazilian environmental political scenario.

Herein, we use molecular data newly acquired specimens to test that classification through Bayesian inference phylogenetic analysis. We conclude belongs Gondwanan Tomichiidae, together with African Tomichia and Australian Coxiella . Furthermore, reassess currently synonymized genus- species-level names The genera Hydracme Aquidauania are considered synonymous species I....
