The introduction of large language models (LLMs), such as Generative Pre-trained Transformer 4 (GPT-4; OpenAI), has generated significant interest in health care, yet studies evaluating their performance a clinical setting are lacking. Determination acuity, measure patient's illness severity and level required medical attention, is one the foundational elements reasoning emergency medicine.
Abstract Objectives As the real-world electronic health record (EHR) data continue to grow exponentially, novel methodologies involving artificial intelligence (AI) are becoming increasingly applied enable efficient data-driven learning and, ultimately, advance healthcare. Our objective is provide readers with an understanding of evolving computational methods and help in deciding on pursue. Target Audience The sheer diversity existing presents a challenge for scientists who beginning apply...
Abstract Background As immune checkpoint inhibitors (CPI) are increasingly approved for cancer treatment, hospitalizations related to severe immune-related adverse events (irAE) will increase. Here, we identify patients hospitalized due irAEs and describe survival outcomes across irAE, CPI, type. Methods We identified at our institution from January 2012 December 2020 irAEs. Survival was analyzed using Kaplan-Meier curves with log-rank tests. Results Of 3137 treated CPIs, 114 (3.6%) were...
Abstract This paper evaluates the performance of Chat Generative Pre-trained Transformer (ChatGPT; GPT-3.5) in accurately identifying higher acuity patients a real-world clinical context. Using dataset 10,000 pairs patient Emergency Department (ED) visits with varying levels, we demonstrate that GPT-3.5 can successfully determine based on history sections extracted from ED physician notes. The model achieves an accuracy 84% and F1 score 0.83, improved for more disparate scores. Among 500...
Randomized trials have demonstrated that anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) tyrosine inhibitors (TKIs) can be safe and efficacious treatments for patients with ALK-positive advanced non-small-cell lung cancer (aNSCLC). However, their safety, tolerability, effectiveness, patterns of use in real-world remain understudied. We sought to assess the overall treatment pattern characteristics, effectiveness outcomes aNSCLC receiving ALK TKIs.This retrospective cohort study using electronic health...
Abstract Background Transfusion‐associated circulatory overload (TACO) is a severe adverse reaction (AR) contributing to the leading cause of mortality associated with transfusions. As strategies mitigate TACO have been increasingly adopted, an update prevalence rates and risk factors using growing sources electronic health record (EHR) data can help understand transfusion safety. Study Design Methods This retrospective study aimed provide timely reproducible assessment TACO. Novel natural...

Background
As immune checkpoint inhibitors (CPI) are increasingly approved for the treatment of multiple cancer types, hospitalizations related to severe immune-related adverse events (irAE) will increase in tandem. Here, we identify risk factors that predict hospitalization from an irAE help guide clinical decision-making future patients on CPI therapy.
Methods
This retrospective case-control study included exposed CPIs who were hospitalized 1/2012 12/2020 at our tertiary...
