近年,ハンドル形電動車いす利用者による単独事故が増えてきている.そこで本研究では新たな対策としてハンドル形電動車いすを自動減速をさせることによる搭乗者の運転を支援システムを提案する.このシステムは,レーザースキャナによって実現される.ハンドル形電動車いすの運転経験がない者を対象に行った実験の結果,実験コースにおいて自動減速をおこなうことで搭乗者の操作性を向上した.また,特にハンドル形電動車いすの運転を難しいと思う人ほど効果があった.
